Sputnik variants/Moonage daydreams

The original sputnik came to me in a dream. Sort of. I dream't of a chair but when I tried to draw it I realized I had no idea what this dream chair looked like. Dreams can be funny like that. But somehow out of this and a brief obsession with making tapers on the lathe I ended up with sputnik.

These are some early images of a new sputnik variant, including a table version. There is something about tripods that keeps drawing me back, I have a suspician that it may be to do with early exposure to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds musical, but we don't have time to get into that now.
